Sam and Max Status

Sam and Max Status

Hello all!

I’m sorry it’s been a while since the last update, but a lot has been going on!  First, below is the latest monkey picture (you can see them all on the Family Photos page).  Can you believe they’re eight months old?!

Since the last update, Max has started eating cereal and fruits and vegetables and is loving them.  Sam is still having his feeding through his NG tube, but we give him licks of whatever Max eats so he gets used to the taste.  This is also to help prevent taste aversion that some babies who use NG tubes can experience.  So far he loves the taste of everything we’ve given him.

Max has been rolling and we need to keep an eye on him when we put him down, otherwise he’ll roll across the room before you know it.  Sam is rolling from side to side, but not as much as Max yet.  He scoots on his back from time to time, though.  Laura has been working on rolling with Sam, and is helping Max with sitting up on his own.  Both of them have been sitting in their bouncy seats, but I would say that Sam is actually better at it than Max.  Sam loves to bounce!

We’re still waiting to find out when Sam’s surgery will be.  Now they want to wait until he’s between 19 and 20 pounds before they do it.  He’s been on increased calories and has been steadily gaining weight.  He’s just a couple pounds short of his goal, so we’re hoping it can be as early as October.  Keep your fingers crossed!  They both had their nine-month check-up (one month early) last week.  It was early so that Sam could get his immunizations out of the way in case the surgery was scheduled.  Sam was 16 pounds, 12 ounces and was 27.5 inches long.  Max weighed in at an ounce shy of 18 pounds and was 28 inches long.  Also, Sam’s head was a centimeter bigger than Max’s.  As it’s starting to be flu season and RSV season is around the corner, we’ll start to get back into bubble mode since it’s so dangerous for Sam.  This means Laura and the boys soon won’t be getting out as much, so we’re trying to take advantage of our freedom while we can.

One last thing; they’re getting teeth!  Sam has two little chicklet teeth on the bottom and is starting to cut a third.  Max is cutting one on the bottom, but it’s just about visible.

Well, that’s all for now.  As always, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Love,
George, Laura, Sam and Max

    Laura and George,

Loved the site. I would love JOn and Brandy to set up a similar site when their new son arrives. I feel like we are connected when I can read your news. Thank you so……… much for sending these updates.
