Unfortunately, I don’t know as much about my mother’s side of the family. In fact, I never knew my Grandma and Grandpa Pappas, having died before I was born.

This is something I truly regret. I often feel as though something is missing from my life by not having had the opportunity to get to know them, talk to them, and learn from them.

What I do know about them, I learned from my mother. My grandfather Pappas was a very hard worker, kind of strict, but fair and had a pretty good sense of humor with his family. My grandmother was a lot of fun; she loved professional wrestling, was a Flash Gordon fan, and loved to laugh. I think I really would have hit it off with both of them.

Actually, Pappas is the naturalized version of the name Papamichael. Greek in origin, it means “Father Michael.” I’ve searched for both names on the net which produced thousands of results, but I couldn’t find anything pertaining to the origin of the name.
